While working at mainframe I had the pleasure to work on this promotional video forPratt & Whitney, advertising their unique GTF style engine. I was responsible for lighting and animation on a couple of shots and for the UI overlays. You can read the description from the mainframe page below.
Pratt & Whitney approached us to promote the industry leading architecture of their Geared Turbofan engine. After producing the visual content for their microsite we already had a lot of the components modelled and textured, which we looked to conceptualise into a darker, more abstract film.
Using our increasing knowledge of how the engine's individual parts come together, we looked to convey a chronological sequence from tip to tail ending with a resolved GTF engine ready for take off.
We used a lot of MASH (an Autodesk Maya plug-in originally developed in-house here at Mainframe North) in this project to handle the large number of moving parts. It's hard to imagine how it would have been possible in Maya without it!
