Hydra Design Labs was kind enough to have me back on the the team to help create some more User Interface concepts for use across their sites.
The aim was to create a hyper futuristic automotive UI where readability wasn't hugely important and we could push the boat out as far as style was concerned.
Usually with anything automotive everything must be clear and easily readable with quick glances. With these designs I tried to stick to something that was recognisable as a vehicle speedometer but different enough to look like something from the far future.
When making these concepts I implemented Cavalry to create both the artwork and the animation. The vector drawing tools inside of Cavalry allow me to create scalable designs and with no need to worry about transferring between too many programs in order to complete the job.
No keyframes were used in the making of the animation, everything runs procedurally using noises and other behaviour drivers. All of the text read outs take re-mapped information directly from the corresponding graphics to produce the numbers we see on screen.
